The Word is perfect – 9 December 2022

Pesalome 19
There are few things in this world that can be said is perfect. And if there is perhaps somewhere, somehow, a perfect person to be found, you can know for sure – cracks await you around the corner! Pessimistic? Yes! After all, human hands were involved somewhere.
For this reason, I am so thankful that this verse does not end there. The power of the perfectness of the Law (Word) lies in the fact that it is the Lord’s perfect Word or Law, not man’s. Therefore, it is able to revive the soul.
“In the Word, it is the Lord’s trustworthy statutes that makes wise the simple (Psalm 19:7); the precepts of the Lord are right, giving joy to the heart (Psalm 19:8). The commands of the Lord are radiant, giving light to the eyes (verse 8); the ordinances of the Lord are sure and altogether righteous.” (Psalm 19:9).
Allow your thoughts to pause for a moment at these life-giving truths. Meditate on what is written down in these verses and then answer this question: does your attitude and expectation for your life have a point of contact with the Lord’s expectations for your life, according to the Word?
For the person in these verses, the rules of the Lord are true, more to be desired than gold, even much fine gold (Psalm 19:10). It is even sweeter than honey and drippings of the honeycomb (verse 10). And yes, it is more than sweet talk, he is being led and taught by these rules. Why? Because God’s promise to his children sounds like this: “Moreover, by them is your servant warned; in keeping them there is great reward.” (Psalm 19:11)
Can you see and understand why the Word is above all else? God himself is the author! The content is authentic, incorruptible and extremely trustworthy! Words in the Word have its origin from the being of God himself. Look deep into yourself and then answer these two questions: do I keep God’s Word in my heart? and do I think about it often with the knowledge that the Holy Spirit can enlighten my mind, so that I can understand the Word, keep it in my heart and start living accordingly?
Prayer: Our heavenly Father, in a hurried and fast changing world, I humbly kneel down before you and ask for forgiveness for my lack of deep knowledge of your Word. Enable me to make your Word the only light in my life and to live accordingly. Amen
