Over the past three years 7 million calls to the emergency number, 10111, were not answered. This shocking statistic was recently released by the government. They attribute this to the almost 6 000 vacant posts they need to fill.

Above-mentioned is a worrying fact as most of us now will think twice before calling this number during an emergency.

The good news, however, is that we serve a God who never sleeps nor slumbers. In Psalm 50:15 we read: “and call upon me in the day of trouble; I will deliver you, and you shall glorify me.” (ESV) In Jeremiah 33:3 He says: “Call to me and I will answer you …” (NIV) And in Lamentations 3:55,57 we read: “I called on your name, Lord, from the depths of the pit. … You came near when I called you, and you said, ‘Do not fear.’” (NIV)

God is always available to help us during our emergencies. Let’s remember that. God bless.

Prayer: Father God, thank you that I can call unto you in my time of trouble. Help me today with (name the situation). I ask this in the Name of Jesus Christ. Amen
