Christ is God’s greatest gift to mankind - Part 1
- Christ is like the Father

Bible text(s)

The Person and Work of Christ

15Christ is the visible likeness of the invisible God. He is the firstborn Son, superior to all created things.

Colossians 1:15GNBOpen in Bible reader

16For God loved the world so much that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes in him may not die but have eternal life. 17For God did not send his Son into the world to be its judge, but to be its saviour.

John 3:16-17GNBOpen in Bible reader

God's Word through his Son

1In the past, God spoke to our ancestors many times and in many ways through the prophets, 2but in these last days he has spoken to us through his Son. He is the one through whom God created the universe, the one whom God has chosen to possess all things at the end. 3He reflects the brightness of God's glory and is the exact likeness of God's own being, sustaining the universe with his powerful word. After achieving forgiveness for human sins, he sat down in heaven at the right-hand side of God, the Supreme Power.

Hebrews 1:1-3GNBOpen in Bible reader

18No one has ever seen God. The only Son, who is the same as God and is at the Father's side, he has made him known.

28As Jesus taught in the Temple, he said in a loud voice, “Do you really know me and know where I am from? I have not come on my own authority. He who sent me, however, is truthful. You do not know him, 29but I know him, because I come from him and he sent me.”

John 7:28-29GNBOpen in Bible reader

Jesus the Way to the Father

1“Do not be worried and upset,” Jesus told them. “Believe in God and believe also in me.

8Philip said to him, “Lord, show us the Father; that is all we need.”

9Jesus answered, “For a long time I have been with you all; yet you do not know me, Philip? Whoever has seen me has seen the Father. Why, then, do you say, ‘Show us the Father’? 10Do you not believe, Philip, that I am in the Father and the Father is in me? The words that I have spoken to you,” Jesus said to his disciples, “do not come from me. The Father, who remains in me, does his own work. 11Believe me when I say that I am in the Father and the Father is in me. If not, believe because of the things I do.

John 14:8-11GNBOpen in Bible reader

2For you gave him authority over all humanity, so that he might give eternal life to all those you gave him.

Jesus Christ is the Son of God and God himself. He is the incarnation of God the Father on earth.
