Eternal Wisdom – Day 9

₁₅Christ is the visible likeness of the invisible God. He is the firstborn Son, superior to all created things.

₁₆For God loved the world so much that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes in him may not die but have eternal life. ₁₇For God did not send his Son into the world to be its judge, but to be its saviour.

₁In the past, God spoke to our ancestors many times and in many ways through the prophets, ₂but in these last days he has spoken to us through his Son. He is the one through whom God created the universe, the one whom God has chosen to possess all things at the end. ₃He reflects the brightness of God's glory and is the exact likeness of God's own being, sustaining the universe with his powerful word. After achieving forgiveness for human sins, he sat down in heaven at the right-hand side of God, the Supreme Power.

₁₈No one has ever seen God. The only Son, who is the same as God and is at the Father's side, he has made him known.

₂₈As Jesus taught in the Temple, he said in a loud voice, “Do you really know me and know where I am from? I have not come on my own authority. He who sent me, however, is truthful. You do not know him, ₂₉but I know him, because I come from him and he sent me.”

₁“Do not be worried and upset,” Jesus told them. “Believe in God and believe also in me.

₈Philip said to him, “Lord, show us the Father; that is all we need.”

₉Jesus answered, “For a long time I have been with you all; yet you do not know me, Philip? Whoever has seen me has seen the Father. Why, then, do you say, ‘Show us the Father’? ₁₀Do you not believe, Philip, that I am in the Father and the Father is in me? The words that I have spoken to you,” Jesus said to his disciples, “do not come from me. The Father, who remains in me, does his own work. ₁₁Believe me when I say that I am in the Father and the Father is in me. If not, believe because of the things I do.

₂For you gave him authority over all humanity, so that he might give eternal life to all those you gave him.
