Forgiveness – Day 6
David did not go with his troops to defeat the Ammonites but stayed at home. He saw Bathsheba, committed adultery and let Uriah, her husband, get killed in the war.
Nathan's Message and David's Repentance David's Son Dies
God forgives people who should not be forgivable
Nathan, the prophet, came to him and told a story. David responded and said that the rich man should die (5) – not realising that he pronounced his own punishment for the sins he committed. Nathan exposed him (7), but hear also the mercy God extended to David (13). In David’s case, he and Bathsheba should have been killed, but we can assume that the forgiveness extends to her too.
They paid the price – their son died. We all know that something like this can never be forgotten by any parent.
