Advice to Young People
Every day we make decisions. Some days it’s easy, other days it’s really hard. However, our choices determine the course of our lives. Recently I read this powerful piece on social media:
“Marriage is hard. Divorce is hard. Choose your hard.
Obesity is hard. Being fit is hard. Choose your hard.
Being in debt is hard. Being financially disciplined is hard. Choose your hard.
Communication is hard. Not communicating is hard. Choose your hard.
Life will never be easy. It will always be hard. But we can choose our hard. Pick wisely.”
Every decision has consequences. Because we believe that God knows and determines the future, we have the privilege to consult Him in every decision. In Proverbs 2: 6 the author reminds us: “For the Lord gives wisdom; from his mouth comes knowledge and understanding.” Also in Proverbs 3:5-6 we read: “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.” And in Proverbs 1:7 we find the key to wisdom, knowledge and good choices: “The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge.”
The fear of the Lord means that we respect Him. We remain obedient even when we do not understand why He is leading us in a certain direction. We do this because we love Him and know that He is still God.
Do you need wisdom today? Feel free to talk to God, the Source of all wisdom and knowledge. God bless.
Prayer: Father God, thank you that I can ask You for wisdom when I have to make difficult decisions. Today I specifically bring (name your situation) to You. Guide me through Your Holy Spirit and strengthen me to obey You. I ask this in the Name of Jesus Christ. Amen
