Pray that Jerusalem will have peace
This is a song for people going to the temple.
1I was happy when people said to me:
‘Let us go to the house_of_the_Lord.’
2Jerusalem, we are standing at your gates.
3Jerusalem, they have built you very well,
and all your houses are close together.
4This is the city where
the tribes come to worship,
the tribes of the Lord.
He told the Israelites
to come here to thank Him.
5This is where the thrones are,
where the king must judge,
the thrones of the tribes of King David.
6You must pray that Jerusalem
will have peace. You must say:
‘We pray that the people
who love you will live safely.
7We pray that there will be peace
between your walls,
and we pray that the people in your
beautiful homes will be safe.’
8I think of my brothers and my friends
and that is why I say:
‘Jerusalem, there must be peace in you.’
9I think of the temple of our God
and that is why I pray that
all will be well with you, Jerusalem.
