God helps those who live in the right way
(Also in Psalm 14)
Tell the leader of the choir that they must play the flutes when they sing this song, a song of David.
1Only foolish people
think there is no God.
They are bad people who
do sinful things to other people,
and not one of them does what is good.
2God looks from heaven to
the people to see if
there is anyone who is wise,
anyone who asks what God wants.
3But they have all turned away from God,
and they have not gone the right way.
There is not one person
who lives in the right way and
does only good, not even one.
4You, sinful people
who don't believe in God,
don't you understand?
You, who oppress my people
and eat them like you eat bread,
don't you know
what will happen to you?
5You will become afraid
like you have never feared before,
because God will destroy
the enemies of his people
and He will throw their bones all over the land.
They will suffer and become ashamed
because God has left them alone.
6I pray that someone will
come from Zion to save Israel.
I pray that God will help
his people and bless them again,
and then the descendants of Jacob
will rejoice,
and the people of Israel will celebrate.
