I will sing about the power of the Lord
Tell the leader of the choir to play the same music as the song: ‘Do not destroy’. This is a song of David that he wrote when King Saul sent men to guard David's home so that they could kill him.
1My God, please save me
from my enemies,
and protect me from the people
who want to attack me.
2Save me from those bad people,
and protect me from those murderers.
3Look, there are strong men
waiting to attack me,
but I have not sinned
or done anything wrong.
4I have done nothing against them,
but they come to attack me.
Lord, please look at what
they are doing and help me.
5You are the Lord
who rules over all,
the God of Israel.
Come and punish all those people.
Do not have mercy on those
who betray people and do evil deeds. Selah
6Every night they come back
and howl like dogs in the city.
7Lord, hear what they say.
Their words hurt like sharp swords,
and they think that You can not hear
what they say.
8But Lord, You laugh at them.
You are laughing at all
the nations who don't know You.
9O God, it is You who makes me strong,
and I will wait for You to help me.
You are the One who keeps me safe.
10You are my God
who will come and help me.
You will help me defeat all my enemies.
11Lord, don't kill them immediately.
Chase them away all over the world,
and let my people see it and remember
that You made me defeat them.
Lord, You are my Shield
and my Protector.
12Please punish them because
they sin every time that they talk.
They are proud,
they curse people and tell lies.
Let their sins make them fall
into their own traps.
13Show them that You are angry
and punish them. Cause them all to die.
Then everyone will know that
it is God who rules
over his people, Israel,
and that He rules over the world. Selah
14Every night they come back
and howl like dogs in the city.
15They look for food to eat,
and they howl and bark
if they don't get enough.
16But I will sing of your power,
and I will rejoice every morning
because You are a faithful God.
I am safe with You because
You protect me when
it is dangerous for me
or when I have trouble.
17God, You make me strong.
I will praise You because
I am safe with You.
You are my God
who will always love me.
