*Psalms 87

₁The Lord has built Zion

on his holy_mountain.

₂The Lord loves Zion and its gates

more than the other places

in the land_of_Israel.

₃City of God, people say

wonderful things about you. Selah

₄The Lord says:

‘There are a lot of nations who know Me,

and Egypt and Babylon also know Me,

with the Philistines,

and the lands of Tyre and Cush.

All of them will say:

“I was born in Zion.”

₅And they will say this about Zion:

“People from all the nations were born here,

and the Most High God

will make this city strong.” ’

₆When the Lord writes down

the names of all the people

who belong to Him,

He will count them and say:

‘This person was born in Zion.’ Selah

₇They will sing and dance and they will say:

‘Everything that is good for me

comes from you, Zion.’
