The Lord has chosen Zion
This is a song for people going to the temple.
1Lord, please remember David
and all the problems that he suffered.
2He promised the Lord
and he made a vow
to the Almighty God_of_Jacob.
3David said: ‘I will not go
into my house and get into my bed,
4I will not lie down or go to sleep,
5until I have found a place
for the Lord where I can
build a house for Him, for the
Almighty God_of_Jacob.’
6They told us about the covenant box
in the town of Ephrathah and
we found it in the place of Jaar.
7We said: ‘Let us go to the place of God.
We want to worship Him before his throne.’
8Lord, please come.
You must always be here
with the covenant box that shows
that You rule as the King.
9Priests, you must do what is right
and the people who belong to you
must be happy and sing.
10Lord, David was your servant.
Please think about him and don't leave the king,
your anointed one.
11The Lord has promised David,
and He will always do what He has promised.
He said: ‘I will make
one of your own sons
king and put him on your throne.
12If your sons keep my covenant
and do what I teach them,
then they and their children will
always rule and sit on your throne.’
13The Lord has chosen Zion.
He wants his house to be there.
14He said: ‘Here I want to be forever.
I want to live here.
That is what I want to do.
15I will give food and everything
they need to the people in the city,
and I will give bread to all the poor people.
16I will bless the priests in the city
and they will know that it
is the Lord who saves people.
The people who believe in Me
will sing and rejoice.
17I will give you a king
from the family of David,
and my anointed one will be a light to my people.
18He will always defeat his enemies,
and his crown will always shine on his head.’
