Niqaphelile ukwenza umyalo kaSomnini uZimenu. 4Nje-ke uSomnini uZimenu unikele abafowenu ukuphumula njengombana wabathembisa. Ngalokho buyelani emizini yenu enarheni lapha kunelifa lenu khona, endaweni enayabelwa nguMosi inceku kaSomnini ngaphetjheya kweJordani. 5Tjhejani bonyana nigcina kuhle umyalo nomthetho uMosi inceku kaSomnini aniyale ngawo kobana nikhathalele uSomnini uZimenu. 6-8Yeke uJotjhuwa wababusisa, wathi kibo: “Buyelani emizinenu ninomnotho omnengi, nefuyo enengi, isiliva, igolide, ikoporo, isimbi kanye nezambatho ezinengi khulu. Hlukaniselanani nabafowenu ipango eniyifumene ezitheni zenu.” Nje-ke wabalayelisa, baya emizinabo.

9Ngalokho bakwaRubeni nebakwaGadi kanye nesiquntu sekoro yakwaManase babuyela ekhaya, basuka ebantwini bakwa-Israyeli eTjhilo esenarheni yeKanana kobana baye enarheni yakwaGiliyadi, okuyinarhabo abayithumbe ngokwabo ngokomyalo kaSomnini ngoMosi. 10Lokha nabafika esifundeni esinothileko ngemrhobeni weJordani enarheni yeKanana, bakha i-aldari elikhulu nelibabazekako eduze neJordani. 11Ama-Israyeli, okubafowabo, ezwa bona bakwaRubeni, bakwaGadi nesiquntu sekoro yakwaManase bakhe i-aldari emkhawulweni wenarha yamaKanana esifundeni esinothileko ngemrhobeni weJordani ehlangothini lakwa-Israyeli. 12Kwathi bona woke ama-Israyeli akuzwe lokho, kwahlangana woke umkhambathi eTjhilo kobana ulwe nabo.
13Ama-Israyeli athumela uFiniyasi umsa ka-Elazara umphristi kebakwaRubeni, bakwaGadi nesiquntwini sekoro yakwaManase enarheni yeGiliyadi, 14akhambisana namakhosana alitjhumi. Enye nenye beyijamele ikoro ngayinye yakwa-Israyeli, omunye nomunye wabo njengehloko yomndeni eenkorweni zakwa-Israyeli. 15Beza kebakwaRubeni, kebakwaGadi nesiquntwini sekoro yakwaManase enarheni yeGiliyadi bathi kibo: 16“Nakhu okutjhiwo ngiwo woke umkhambathi kaSomnini, ‘Kubayini nenze isiphambeko esingaka phambi kwakaZimu wakwa-Israyeli ngokulisa namhlanjesi ukulandela uSomnini bese nizakhela i-aldari nijamelane noSomnini na? 17Bekungakaneli ngesono sePewori na? Asizukuletha imihlabelo yokutjhiswa, iminikelo yeenthoro namkha imihlabelo yetjhebiswano ngaphandle kwe-aldarini lakaSomnini uZimethu eliphambi kwethaberinakeli!”
30Lokha uFiniyasi umphristi namakhosana womkhambathi, iinhloko zemindeni yakwa-Israyeli ebegade banaye nabezwa amezwi akhulunywe ngebakwaRubeni, bakwaGadi kanye nesiquntu sekoro yakwaManase, baneliseka. 31UFiniyasi umsa ka-Elazara umphristi wathi kebakwaRubeni, bakwaGadai nesiquntu sekoro yakwaManase: “Namhlanje siyazi bonyana uSomnini uphakathi kwethu ngombana anikenzi isiphambeko ngokujamelana naye. Ngalokho nisindise ama-Israyeli esandleni sakaSomnini.”
