God in us – Day 2

We, as Christian believers in whom the Holy Spirit lives, are often ridiculed by supporters of worldly philosophies for the so-called senselessness of our faith. Another Christ than the one you and I believe in is being proclaimed. Humanistic teachings, the questioning of the Bible as the inspired word of God, the denying of Jesus’ virgin birth, his incarnation, death and resurrection are usually high on the agenda of such people.

When we are confronted by these kind of remarks, we should keep in mind who we believe in – we believe in Jesus, who God raised from the dead (Romans 10:9). The Holy Spirit will bear witness within you because, he the Spirit of truth, will guide you into all truth. (John 16:13)

“But,” you might ask, “How do I know for sure that it is not a misleading or false spirit that works in me?” 1 John 4:2 teaches: By this you know the spirit of God: every spirit that confesses that Jesus has come in the flesh is of God. Thus, we need not run around seeking for the truth in uncertainty and full of doubt, because the truth lives within us! We can overcome any lying spirit!

If Jesus Christ, God’s incarnate Son, became a reality in your life by faith, then you are born of God, you are his child. You can overcome anything in this sinful world because, greater is He who is in you than he who is in the world. (1 John 4:4)
