Sing and praise the Lord
1Sing to the Lord and rejoice,
you who live in the right way.
You who are honest and pure
must praise the Lord.
2You must play the lyre
and praise the Lord.
Play a song for Him on the harp.
3Sing a new song for Him.
Play a beautiful song for Him
and rejoice loudly.
4Because the words
that come from the Lord are true.
He is a faithful God
who does what He promises.
5He loves people who are
righteous, who live in the right way,
and do what is good to other people.
The world is full of the Lord's love.
6The Lord said the heaven
and earth must be there,
and then they were there.
He made the stars and everything
in heaven by saying a word.
7He told the water of the sea
to come together like a dam,
and He put all the deep water into his store rooms.
8All the people in the world
must fear the Lord,
and all who live in the world
must respect Him.
9When the Lord speaks,
things happen,
and when He says something must be there,
it is already there.
10It is the Lord who makes
the plans of nations fail,
and it is He who stops the things
that people want to do.
11If the Lord wants
to do something, He does it.
When He decides something must happen,
it happens. His plans stand forever.
12All is well with a nation
whose God is their Lord
because He has chosen them
to belong to Him.
13The Lord looks down from heaven,
and He sees all the people.
14He looks down from his throne
and He sees everyone on earth.
15He is the One who has made
their minds and He knows
everything they do.
16A very big army can not save
a king and make him win in war.
When a soldier wins a fight,
it is not because he is strong.
17Don't trust in horses to win a war.
Even if they are strong,
they can not make an army win
or defeat other soldiers.
18No, it is the Lord who cares
for the people who serve Him.
He helps the people who trust
in Him because He is faithful.
19He saves his people
so that they don't die,
and He keeps them alive
even when there is a famine.
20That is why we trust in the Lord.
He will help and protect us.
21Yes, we rejoice
because of what the Lord has done,
and we believe in his holy name.
22Lord, please show us your love
because we trust in You.
