Please lead me and teach me
Tell the leader of the choir to play this music with flutes. This is a Psalm of David.
1Lord, please listen to what I say,
and listen when I moan and groan.
2Listen when I cry and ask you for help,
my King and my God. I pray to You.
3Lord, You hear me
when I pray to You every morning,
when I stand in front of You
and give You an offering
and wait for You to help me.
4You are a God who
does not like bad people.
Sinful people are not welcome in your house.
5People who are proud
can not come near You.
You hate all who do sinful things.
6People who tell lies will not live.
You will cause them to die. You hate all
who kill other people or cheat them.
7But I may come into your temple,
because You are very gracious to me.
I will bow down and worship You
at your holy temple to honour You.
8Lord, please lead me so that I
will do only what is right,
because my enemies are looking at me.
I ask You to show me how
You want me to live.
9I am asking this because
what these people say is not_true.
They think only about
how they can destroy other people,
their mouths are like open graves
when they talk, and they tell only lies.
10O God, please punish them.
Let them fall into their own traps.
Throw them away because they
have done many sins,
and they have rebelled_against You.
11Make the people happy
who trust in You,
protect them and let them rejoice in You,
and be with everyone who loves your name
and make them happy because of
what You have done for them.
12Lord, You bless people
who live in the right way.
You are good to them and
You protect them like the shield of a soldier.
