*Psalms 114

₁The Israelites went out of Egypt.

The descendants of Jacob went away

from the people who speak a strange language,

₂and then Judah became God's holy place

where He wanted his temple to be,

and Israel became the land that He ruled.

₃The sea saw it and it fled.

When the Jordan River saw it,

it turned_around.

₄The mountains danced like sheep rams,

and the hills jumped like lambs.

₅Sea, why do you flee? Jordan River,

why do you turn_around?

₆Mountains, why do you dance

like sheep rams?

Hills, why do you jump like lambs?

₇Earth, you must tremble when the Lord comes,

and when the God_of_Jacob stands in front of you.

₈He is the One who changed rocks

so that they became dams of water.

He is the One who changed hard rocks

so that they became fountains of water.
