I love the Lord
1I love the Lord.
He listens to me when I pray to Him,
when I ask Him to help me.
2He listens when I pray,
and that is why I will pray to Him
for as long as I live.
3The ropes of death tied me down,
and I was afraid of the grave and hell.
I worried and feared.
4Then I prayed to the Lord and said: ‘Lord,
please save my life.’
5The Lord is gracious and righteous.
Our God is good and merciful
to people who suffer.
6The Lord protects young people
who can not help themselves.
He saved me when I was discouraged.
7I said to myself:
‘Don't worry or be afraid,
because the Lord is good and
has done great things for me.’
8Lord, You have saved me from death,
and You have comforted me
and taken away my tears.
You helped me so that I did not stumble.
9Now I live near the Lord and
walk with Him among people who are alive.
10I continued to believe in the Lord
even when I was suffering a lot.
11When I was afraid and worried,
I knew that I could not trust in people.
I could trust only in the Lord.
12The Lord has given me
a lot of good things.
What can I give Him?
13I will give Him a drink-offering and
I will pray to the Lord and praise Him.
14I will give everything to the Lord
that I have promised to give Him,
and I will do this where all his people can see me.
15The lives of the people
who believe in the Lord
are very precious to Him.
16Lord, I am your servant,
and I belong to You.
My mother also belonged to You.
You set me free from the chains
that have tied me.
17I will sacrifice a thank-offering to You.
I will pray to You and praise You.
18I will give everything to the Lord
that I have promised to give Him,
and I will do this where all his people can see me.
19I will do it in the courtyards of the temple,
inside you, Jerusalem.
You must praise the Lord.
