The recent earthquake in Turkey and Syria has already claimed 11 200 lives while rescue workers continue to race against time in harsh winter conditions to rescue survivors from the rubble of collapsed buildings. About 5 775 buildings were destroyed in the earthquake. Some of the survivors lost all their belongings and family members in the disaster.
At times our lives might feel like this disaster. Everything collapses and the harder we try to get out of the invisible “hole” we are in, the deeper we sink into it – with our marriage, finances, health, children, you name it.
If you are there today, I have hope for you.
In Psalm 40:1-3 we read: I waited patiently for the LORD; and he inclined unto me, and heard my cry. He brought me up also out of an horrible pit, out of the miry clay, and set my feet upon a rock, and established my goings. And he hath put a new song in my mouth, evenpraise unto our God … ” (KJV)
God brings stability when it feels as if we are standing on quicksand. He pulls us out of the “hole” and places our feet on solid ground to face the world with a song of praise. Let’s get quiet for a while, turn to him and give him a chance to demonstrate his greatness to us. God bless.
Prayer: Father God, thank you for being in control of my life and circumstances. Please help me with (name your challenge) today. Please also bring stability and joy in my life. I ask this in the Name of Jesus Christ. Amen
