Christians have a Father in heaven and, as co-heirs with the Son, are an integral part of the great family of believers on earth. Regretfully, there are sincere Christians who, for various reasons, keep formal Christian involvement to a minimum, eschewing church membership, public worship, congregational Bible studies and communal prayer. They prefer to go it alone and that is a great pity.
There is great value in Christian fellowship because it ensures that Christians never have to face life’s challenges on their own.
Somewhere close to most Christians, there are believers meeting with whom they could join in worship and grow in the Lord. They are fellow worshippers, who they can strengthen and be strengthened by in times of trials.
In his letter to the Ephesians, Paul advises them and us on how one should relate to fellow believers: “Speak to one another with the words of psalms, hymns and sacred songs, sing hymns and psalms to the Lord with praise in your hearts.” Ephesians 5:19
There is no talk of going it alone.
