U-Isaya 55:8-9ZUL59NOVula kumfundi weBhayibheli

I struggle to understand that God is almighty. However, I accept it because his word says that he is always present (Psalm 139:7-12), that he has all power and that nothing is impossible for him (Jeremiah 32:17,27) and that he knows everything (1 John 3:20).

The Bible gives us a glimpse of what the Almighty is capable of. He is the One that can save us from the state of being lost – physically, emotionally and spiritually. This almighty God “is able, now and always, to save those who come to God through him, because he lives for ever to plead with God for them.” (Hebrews 7:25) God Almighty, by his grace, give us strength to do things that we could not do by our own strength (2 Corinthians 9:8).

We live in a world filled with temptation. God, who is everywhere and knows everything, is also the One who protects us from temptation. In 1 Corinthians 10:13 we get this promise: “No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can endure it.” (NIV)

God Almighty does not need us, but for a reason known only to him, he works in and through us – his children. We are his hands and feet here on earth. Paul wrote to the Ephesians: “To him who by means of his power working in us is able to do so much more than we can ever ask for, or even think of: to God be the glory.” (Ephesians 3:20)

He is also the One who can change and make new. He can change our mind and spirit, and one day, he will transform our bodies: “He will change our weak mortal bodies and make them like his own glorious body, using that power by which he is able to bring all things under his rule.” (Philippians 3:21)

When we accept Jesus, it is because we realise that we cannot cleanse ourselves of sin. In Jude 24, we read that God is mighty and that his children will, one day, be spotless and with joy, behold his glory. What more can we ask for?

I believe in the Almighty – he who is everywhere, with whom nothing is impossible and who knows everything.

Prayer: Almighty God, I worship you in humility and with a grateful heart. Amen
