Comfort from the Word – Day 20

Insignificance of man

Bible text(s)

9Human beings are all like a puff of breath;

great and small alike are worthless.

Put them on the scales, and they weigh nothing;

they are lighter than a mere breath.

10Don't put your trust in violence;

don't hope to gain anything by robbery;

even if your riches increase,

don't depend on them.

11More than once I have heard God say

that power belongs to him

12and that his love is constant.

You yourself, O Lord, reward everyone according to his deeds.

Psalms 62:9-12GNBOpen in Bible reader

3You tell us to return to what we were;

you change us back to dust.

4A thousand years to you are like one day;

they are like yesterday, already gone,

like a short hour in the night.

5You carry us away like a flood;

we last no longer than a dream.

We are like weeds that sprout in the morning,

6that grow and burst into bloom,

then dry up and die in the evening.

Psalms 90:3-6GNBOpen in Bible reader

3LORD, what are mortals, that you notice them;

mere mortals, that you pay attention to them?

4They are like a puff of wind;

their days are like a passing shadow.

Psalms 144:3-4GNBOpen in Bible reader
