New beginnings – Day 4

New beginnings … with new faith in God’s promises

Bible text(s)

19God is not like men, who lie;

He is not a human who changes his mind.

Whatever he promises, he does;

He speaks, and it is done.

Numbers 23:19GNBOpen in Bible reader

Are there promises in your life that God has given you long ago, but they have not been fulfilled yet? Are you praying for a baby, a financial breakthrough, for reconciliation with a loved one, improvement in your work environment or healing from an illness? Initially, you were all fired up when you prayed, but if you have to be honest, doubt has started to creep in and you wonder if you will ever receive your breakthrough.

Listen again to the words in Numbers 23:19: “God is not a man, that he should lie, nor a son of man, that he should change his mind. Does he speak and then not act? Does he promise and not fulfil?”

In the book Promissio und Bund, the author Bertold Klappert writes: “God never acts in a different way towards us than what is written in His Word. And people cannot try to act in a different way towards God than what is written in His Word.”

God’s Word and promises never change. Abraham was 100 years old and his wife, Sarah, 90 when the promise of a baby came into fulfilment. Moses was 80 years old and a shepherd in the wilderness, when God spoke to him through a burning bush, to send him to free the people of Israel from the land of Egypt. In addition, Gideon went into battle with only 300 soldiers fighting a much larger army, because he believed God’s promise of protection and victory – which did indeed happen.

With God, there are no restrictions. His timing is always perfect. If you continue to trust Him, stand on his Word and fight any thoughts that make you doubt, I can assure you that your breakthrough will happen exactly at the right time. And who knows, maybe this year will be the year in which you finally receive it!
