Bible text(s)

28We know that in all things God works for good with those who love him, those whom he has called according to his purpose.

Romans 8:28GNBOpen in Bible reader

Chiaroscuro in art, is the use of strong contrasts between light and dark, usually bold contrasts affecting a whole composition. It is this contrast that gives dept to the picture, making it even more valuable.

As believers, we at times experience fantastic seasons. I call it the seasons of light – times of breakthroughs, peace, joy and happiness. Then there are also the shadowy seasons, during which we battle to keep our heads above water. Both these seasons are needed to form our character and develop our faith. Is it God who causes the shadow seasons in the form of disappointment, hurt or challenges? Definitely not. We live in a broken world where the enemy is out to kill, steal and destroy. God however remains the master of CHIAROSCURO. He is able to use both the good and difficult seasons in our lives to our advantage. In Romans 8:28 we read: “And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him . . .”

Are you currently experiencing a light season? Praise God. Thank Him for everything you have. If not, let’s remind ourselves that God never changes. No matter what we are going through, it may just be the piece of the picture that eventually makes us that masterpiece! God bless.

Father God, thank you for always being in control of my life. Help me to continue to trust You in the light, but also the shadow seasons. Help me to stay close to You. I pray for this in the Name of Jesus Christ. Amen.
